Dr. Alfredo Ortega Rubio

Alfredo Ortega Rubio, Ph.D. in Ecology, has been granted three national awards by the President of Mexico for his career in scientific research applied to biodiversity conservation in Natural Protected Areas. He has been author of 159 original research articles, published 17 books and 63 book chapters, and led 153 strategic projects of resource management, ecological restoration, and environmental impact assessment, including those required to create the Sierra de La Laguna, the Vizcaíno Desert, and the Revillagigedo Archipelago Biosphere Reserves. He has directed 50 theses, which include 25 Ph.D. and 20 Master of sciences. Since 2004 he has been Researcher "E", top Researcher level at the CONACYT Research Center System and has been ratified by the third consecutive time as National Researcher Level III
